I'm continuing development for Hummingbird. It's an upgrade to the existing Aubrey SMS gateway used by the Lemongreen SMS appliance. I decided to do an upgade since previously it was Avalon based. Hummingbird is a pure-Java SMS Gateway server. The good thing about it, it's open source!
I designed it to make it easy for software developers integrate SMS sending and receiving to existing applications. It also provides developers to build new SMS applications with little effort.
Hummingbird is also a server communications framework leveraging the power of the widely-used Mule Enterprise Service Bus(ESB). Here's is an overview of the Hummingbird architecture:
- Faster time to integrate
- Easy customization
- Extendable
- Enterprise SMS messaging
- SMS to JMS(vice-versa) support
- SMS to JDBC.
- Spring configuration. I decided to put this in to lessen the learning curve for Spring developers.
- Java 5.0 support
- Itegno modem support
- Globe API support(useful to Philippine developers only)

If you're serious in developing SMS applications, I might be able to help roll-out the application for you. By the way, I also provide free training for companies who want to extend their existing systems with SMS technology. If you're a freelance developer, I can also provide some materials and training so you can develop applications on top of the platform.
If you want of the free training services, let me know. Here's my contact information.
